ADVANTAGE

MSP was started by forward-thinking individuals who worked in the steel industry their whole lives and decided to put down local roots to build their dream. We’re not a division of a multinational firm or a new gambit by some private equity fund. We’re in steel processing because it’s what we know, what we love and what we do exceptionally well.

Upon founding MSP, our objective was to expand it until we reached maximum capacity. Through our ability to provide value in toll processing, this was achieved within two years, necessitating even further growth of 65 percent! MSP leaders have a fundamental problem-solving mindset and look beyond customer orders to investigate how they use their steel, what their inventory turns are, what their most frequent causes of rejects are and more.

Using that knowledge, we devise new programs for JIT inventory and logistics, for first stage fabrication of parts and for special protective treatment or packaging of lifts or coils. It’s what you do when you’re a problem solver at heart and you love the steel business.

FACILITY

Mississippi Steel Processing’s facility includes 114,000 sf of master coil storage, 151,000 sf of finished goods storage, and 7,200 sf of office space. A major expansion in 2014 increased our original facility by 67 percent and also added significant new processing capacity to shorten lead times and handle heavier gauge material.

Our facility also features:

  • Indoor rail spur that accommodates five railcars
  • Fourteen paved truck bays and two covered truck tarping areas
  • Thirteen overhead cranes, including four 50-ton cranes for master coils

Our processing equipment consists of:

  • Two slitting lines that span 0.017″ to 0.625″ thick and up to 76″ wide
  • A slit coil packaging line for coils up to 15,000 pounds
